”Thanks to our textbooks, we all have this idea that slavery is abolished but really there are 27 million slaves worldwide today.” – SAS (Students Against Slavery)
- 80% of slaves are women and children
- The total earnings of human trafficking is over $30 billion a year – that’s more than all the major league sports in the United States
- Human Trafficking is the 2nd largest and fastest growing, industry worldwide. Second only to drug trafficking…it recently passed illegal weapons trafficking.
- On average, a slave (a person) can be purchased for $90 – people are described as disposable and “enslaveable”
Ending slavery is the challenge presented to this generation. We must take action. We must speak up for those who are not free to speak. Won’t you join us in taking steps to freedom?
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing – Edmund Burke
